Astrological Laws of Attraction

“Who should I be with then?”  That’s the question I hear all the time when I start boring people with astrology info.  Even the sceptics ask who their match would be.  For lots of us, the first time we look at our horoscopes are when we are lovesick teenagers… trying to decipher the complex world of attraction, lust and unrequited love.

Personally, it’s this feature of astrology that cemented my belief and transformed it into a concrete understanding.

It was August 2008 before I was told my rising sign, I was 23 and living in Rome. Newly single and I was slipping into old patterns of attraction: fun, aloof, complicated, paradoxical, sensitive, selfish, confusing, unpredictable, charming, unusual and interesting characters.  I had always been aware of this pattern and had chosen my last lovely boyfriend with my head over my heart.  I was in control, I wasn’t being drawn into something that I couldn’t handle.  I was happy, we were best friends, everything was on a level.

However, I was in Rome, 23, everything was new but felt familiar, I was at home and so happy to be meeting wonderful people. Really vibrant people with high energy levels; enjoying exhilarating experiences and I felt totally alive.  That’s why I had moved there, to feel alive, to fill life with magic and awe!  But with the highs come the lows…

Some of you may know what I was drawn to already by my description above; The Scorpio Ascendant.... oh!

This could be considered my area of expertise!  It is horribly Freudian as my Dad is rising Scorpio.  When I discovered the wonders of the rising sign and how it made sense for me, my family, my close friends… I started contacting ex-boyfriends and asking them for their time of birth (I’ve never had too much concern for what people think!!)  Can you guess? I had always known there were similarities between people, I had often articulated and compared friends / boyfriends to each other… I felt there was a reason, I used to ponder these similarities.  Then, it suddenly all started to make sense!

Since 2008 this investigation has dominated so many of my thoughts and conversations.  I have interrogated most people I have met; I know everyone’s rising sign and the patterns became more obvious.

What drove me crazy is the question WHY a fiery Sagittarian like myself, with an airy Gemini ascendant would be drawn to earth and water, over and over and over.   I gave myself a break with the lovely airy Aquarian (rising Cancer), but then returned to fixed, emotional, complicated people who often lack my ability to communicate openly (and drive me mad.)

Was it because I have grown as part of balanced family unit, we are all different but together make up earth, air, fire, water?  Together we are in harmony, individually we are all out of balance.  My parents lack earth, my sister lacks air and I lack water.

However, if I had been born 4 minutes earlier I would be rising Taurus, I have a Taurus moon, I have Saturn in Scorpio and north node Taurus, south node Scorpio. Can you see that pattern!?  Everything I really crave is earthly Taurus or it's pole, Scorpio.  If I'm talking gibberish then bear with me, I'm going to explain it all.

What this means is that my rising sign is fairly insignificant (because it is so weak, 'on the cusp' close to its predecessor Taurus) the Taurus moon I have is strengthened because the rising sign is influenced by Taurus too. North Node in Taurus means I need to make a move towards being more Taurus and move away from the depths of Scorpio despair, secrecy and passion.  Saturn in Scorpio means that my current Saturn Return is testing, heavy and exhausting.  (The Saturn Return is when Saturn returns to the place in the sky it was at your birth, this energy encourages us to look at our lives and reassess, de-clutter, refine, improve and change.  It is the ultimate maturation, it is the real adolescence and depending on how fruitful and organised your 20s have been, it can really pull the rug and bring huge changes, both positive and negative, depending on where you were before.)

South node Scorpio feels familiar, north node Taurus is a real anchor and pulls me forward.  Move away from familiarity, and move into the future and flourish. (The north and south nodes tell us how to do this.  I'll discuss them soon.)

Something else that I discovered is that Sagittarius loves Virgo and Taurus!  Who knew!? Every magazine article, website and book you read on astrology puts us together with our poles.  Air and air, air with fire, fire with fire… water and water, water and earth, earth and earth.

Not necessarily!

I will list the attractions below.  If you want to know more about what you want in life, what you are attracted to, the good and the bad.  You need to look at your whole chart, and your north node.  I am sure that in another 5 years I will be able to look it this in exceptional detail.  However, I’m still at level one and would love to bring you on this journey of discovery with me! The attractions below are based upon a book of personology... it's superb and I will discuss it more at a later date.  However, for now... there are some unusual parings suggested below, but they certainly make sense to me and the people in my life!

Aries is attracted to; Gemini, Leo, Libra and Scorpio.

Taurus is attracted to; Libra, Scorpio and Capricorn.

Gemini is attracted to; Virgo, Libra and Sagittarius.

Cancer is attracted to; Pisces, Scorpio and Aquarius.

Leo is attracted to; Scorpio, Capricorn and naturally, themselves... other Leos!

Virgo is attracted to: Gemini, Pisces and Taurus.

Libra is attracted to; Aquarius, Aries and Taurus.

Scorpio is attracted to; Capricorn, Leo and Pisces.

Sagittarius is attracted to; Gemini, Aries, Taurus and Virgo.

Capricorn is attracted to; Taurus, Scorpio and Leo

Aquarius is attracted to; Aries, Gemini and Libra

Pisces is attracted to; Aquarius, Cancer and Scorpio.

Sorry to my fellow Sagittarius brothers and sisters, apparently only the Gemini's are after us! What a disaster!

What is great about writing a blog before studying astrology is that I am writing about what I feel and have seen, not what everyone feels and sees.  Astrology is an intuitive science.  There are facts and we interpret them, we 'read' a chart.  So, more of my ramblings that are a collection in my head and not referenced from a text book will follow shortly!

Learning through experience is the best way to learn... thank you for letting me share my experiences with you,

Frank
