New Year!
The pressure to get the New Year off to a good start! Yes or no?
Pluto is gnawing at the final degree of Capricorn and there's a shift for all of us! Yes, for the Capricorns, or those of us with planets and placements at the end of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn... but really, everyone is in this. We're in this together!
The Cancer / Capricorn axis of our lives has been torn down and rebuilt over the past 14 years.
Since 2008 our understanding of family, home, connection and established success has evolved.
Life is tearing at our sense of security. Disney films let us know that bad things happen to good people but to accept our cruel fate and make the best of it. (Why are all Disney films so sad?!) If we lose the connection to our heart and replace it with a love of what we own then we feel an icy disconnect. I guess if you're reading this newsletter then you know that!
As I write the Moon in Virgo is opposite Saturn and it's not a typically 'fun' aspect! The urge to spring clean is real. I have this overriding urge to get these words out. I'm going to go mad if someone interrupts me. 😆 Devotion to life, to your energy bodies, to yoga, to meditating, to running, to eating well... that January energy is knocking on the door with Saturn (the ruler of Capricorn) opposing the Moon. Do you feel that? Do you feel more January than usual? Last year was LESS 'January' than usual thanks to Mars Retrograde.
Jupiter in Taurus trine to the Sun in Capricorn is a stunner, the opportunity is to be the gift that other people need. Generous of spirit.
Returning to the Cancer / Capricorn axis and something I've been thinking about and talking about today is the issue of control in relationships. It's difficult to watch people be controlled and coerced into doing things. I know I've done it in the past, I'm sure I probably still do it without realising but I'm defo more aware of the need to let things be genuine. Cancerian neediness ping-ponging between Capricorn stern control and the whole dynamic becomes toxic!
So many of the relationships around us involve pressure from one party to bow to the other. Cancer is the energy of the loving family, together, safe and secure but when Cancer dips into the Capricorn shadow we see people doing what they SHOULD be doing. Or what people THINK THEY SHOULD be doing.
Cancer and Capricorn are opposites, they are on an axis, they are intimately connected and whilst Pluto is at the stressful 29th degree of Capricorn the shadow is leaking everywhere! By shadow I mean, the ugly side of the energy. In this case, warped family dynamics, coercion, manipulation, getting children to live the unexpressed dreams of the parents, narcissism, covert incest, nastiness, dodgy leadership, punishment, insecure lovers, dubious monogamy and I'm sure this list could go on but it's New Year and I'm sure I'm supposed to be writing something positive! Hahaha!
I do think this is positive though because it is being SEEN and when Pluto moves to Aquarius next year... the shift will continue as we see more equality, fairness, freedom and communication (at best!) There is nothing more positive than the truth and being able to face your reality! I wish for more of this for you in 2024.
The Leo / Aquarius axis could bring its own problems, involving too much AI, arrogance, totalitarianism, cyber security issues and the like. On the other hand we can be more authentic, unconventional in our relating style as we become more ♒️ individual and uniquely inspired! Aquarius brings us issues related to FREEDOM and communication.
I think we're all becoming aware of the Capricorn behaviours that are OLD and UNHELPFUL.
The grim state of political affairs and the horrors in Palestine and Israel encapsulates this moment in time. We are currently baring witness to toxicity that isn't new, it's just where we are focussing right now. That's how astrology work. Life matches the sky, one doesn't cause the other. It's synchronistic.

I spent 2 hours creating this email the other day and in full Mercury Retrograde style it vanished. 🫠 And again when I re-wrote it!! SOS! Mercury stations direct tomorrow! 🙏🏻
It's New Year's Eve now and I'm doing what everyone does. Or at least what most people do and I'm reflecting on this unusual day.
It's an odd day, like a big fairy liquid bubble! Do you know what I mean? It's not "just another day" it's the final day of the year and comes with a particular flavour. Time seems different and even if you're not at all reflective, everyone else is!
Every year there's so much talk about New Year, the Gregorian Calendar, beginnings. Advice not to over extend your intentions contrasting with tips on how to manifest your best life.
This will by my 24th year of writing a daily diary and here are some of my musings on this New Year rollover:
Look back at 2023 and any intentions you made. Tick off the ones you completed.
Understand why some of those intentions were discarded.
Carry forward any dreams not yet fulfilled. (Just because it didn't happen this year doesn't make it a failure, it just wasn't the time!)
Wait until you feel in the right frame of mind to sit and set your intentions.
Do some yoga, go for a walk, meditate and generally get in your zone before writing. Don't rush it!
These goals are a gift that you are giving to yourself, feel good about making them! Don't be punishing!
Something to focus on and remind you of your joy.
Make sure you feel present when you give yourself this gift!
2024 - a universal year 8 and this year we have Jupiter in Taurus = let's talk about MONEY, HONEY.
Without even considering the Numerology, this year has a financial overtone and the big question is, what is true abundance?
Is it knowing how to grow your own vegetables and survive in the wild, or is it having a hard wallet for your Bitcoin? Or is it paying in cash? These questions and conversations will be everywhere this year...
8 years often correspond with big financial news years, combine that with Pluto's final dance in Capricorn and I'd say it's inevitable for us to watch as the world grapples with a new set of values.
Here are some of the headlines for 2024
Jupiter in Taurus until May 26th giving all the abundance vibes, take a look at the New Moon in Taurus this May. It's practically mooing! 🐄
Jupiter and Uranus meet in Taurus on April the 20th. Will this be about the price of land? Crypto? Global currencies? Food? Property? Make sure you're ready to make intentions for a new 13 year Jupiter Uranus cycle! This is a rare conjunction and one of the big stories of the year.
Jupiter moves to Gemini on the 26th of May, along with Venus and the scene changes RADICALLY. Again, this could be about the digitalisation of our world.
Pluto enters Aquarius in January but will return to Capricorn for September - November for the final time in our lives. This is set to be exceptionally intense.
Jupiter moves to Trine Pluto on the 2nd / 3rd of June, another huge financial shift indicated and again we are looking at all things digital. How will you make this work for you?
Mercury Retrograde will do his usual thing in fire signs, giving everyone an opportunity to get a grasp on the MEANING of their life. As I write, Mercury is Retrograde in Sagittarius. Do you feel like this at the minute? Are you more focussed on your intentions than usual?
Saturn will be in Pisces all year. More rain!? More lessons in emotions, psychism, spiritual hygiene, hidden energetics and compassion.
Neptune will sit at 29º Pisces for a good chunk of the year. This will activate the Virgo / Pisces axis. Drugs and alcohol. Prescription medicines vs Meditation! Diagnosis vs understanding someone's unique spiritual makeup...
