The First Blog Post

Today is the day I start my blog!

Except I haven’t worked out how to blog yet and I’m writing this in a word document ready to be copied and pasted.  My technological ineptitude is perhaps the reason I have failed to start blogging already!

I know that this blog will be part of a website; the website is about astrology, but also about lifestyle; health, skincare and the like.  If I had to define myself, I would say I’m a reluctant astrologer.  I’m actually a generic English girl living in London who happens to be very interested in astrology.  I would never in a million years have called myself an astrologer because I consider myself too normal.  I doubt anyone else would agree.

Anyway, I want to talk about astrology in a way that people understand, I want to bring it down a level and explain things without jargon.

I aim to challenge people who say “astrology, I like reading my horoscope in magazines, but I don’t really believe in it.”  I want people to understand that astrology is a fact.  The moon affects the tides, the earth circles the sun, we have seasons, weather systems and “when a butterfly flutters its wings in The Amazon, we have a storm in The UK.”  Everything is connected, everything is a system.  The water cycle, the carbon cycle, the circle of life… the orbits of the planets touch us.  Unfortunately, what I know is based on what I have seen and read, I haven’t found the science behind what I know, but I want to find it…  By writing this I hope it will spur me on and get me studying!

I want to explain astrology to you and then demystify it. So that you understand why you are drawn to certain people, why you behave that way and why they behave that way.  When you understand things they can be reasoned and you can accept the situation without internal battles.   I like to compare people’s charts to their psychometric tests, Myers Briggs personality profiles and see how they complement each other (this is a new hobby!)  We can learn which careers would suit us best and which types of people bring out the best in us.  If you are dealing with a Scorpio, they will have secrets, accept it.  If you are dealing with a Gemini, they will have very good days and very bad days, ride the storms and always be prepared.  If you are with a Leo, they will talk to you with total conviction and think they know everything, listen to their passion but don’t take their word as Gospel, understand it is theatre.  The Virgo will be anxious and worry constantly, that is their way, understand that they are preoccupied, consoling them is good but you will never extinguish their underlying anxiety.

Naturally, all of the above relates to sun signs, if you have a Leo in the family and they are actually quite shy and retiring, they will have a Cancer moon or ascendant that is prevalent because of other planetary influences.  This is where it can get a little complicated, and I am not as strong as I need to be in understanding these ideas… so bear with me!

A wise man once described it to me like this… Imagine taking a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment you were born, from your precise location.  Every photo would be different, the same sky, different perspectives.   This difference is reflected in us and our different personalities.  Again, I don’t yet know the science behind it but I am convinced that the patterns make sense and I will find the answers!

I’ve talked lots about astrology and that’s the way it will be, but I’ll also talk about a few other bits and bobs as I have some other skin care and health related information that I would love to share.  I hope you find this blog enjoyable and easy to read.

The main reason reasons I’m doing this are:

  • To make me pull my finger out and teach myself more about planets and progressions.

  • To write, because I love writing.

  • To compile everything that I have learnt and observed that is currently in my head and put it in one place.

  • To get some feedback from people who know more than me.

The journey starts here!

Pleased to meet you,

Frank
