The Energy of January and New York: Positivity, Expansion, Creativity and Entrepreneurial Crazies

Energy - Positivity, Expansion, Creativity and Entrepreneurial Crazies

What on earth did I intend to write on this regarding New York?

I imagine it was something to do with the people the buzz of the city.  I thought it was similar to Italy, or at least to Rome.  Where people TALK and are open! They are pushy, they put themselves out there and they TRY.  Optimism seems to shine through too… and that is the positivity of an entrepreneur; expanding and trying.

Expansion is important to consider.  The universe is expanding and so our energy, our lives should also reflect this and we should expand our horizons and our experiences.  Energy ebbs and flows.  As I keep saying, everything is cyclical so expand, then contract, expand and then contract… ultimately, expand.  But we cannot expand unless we first contract and reflect.

Nothing is more cyclical than my mood!  I would say that at this time of year we are all a little moody.  The grey dull endless monotony of January kicks us all hard after the glitter and glory of December.  It is a grumpy saturnine time!  Jupiter (expansion) rules Sagittarius and therefore most of December.  Saturn (contraction) rules Capricorn and therefore most of January.  It's an energy most of us can feel!

There are things to do and most of all, things to appreciate (it could be a LOT worse) I always think that when I’m standing in the hot shower and am grateful for the soothing warmth.  Imagine living 100 years ago.  No thanks!

  1. This time is great for getting things done. In May when the sun is out the parks call us to them, we all want to be outside. In December we have parties to go to.  January is a great time to finally tick everything off.

  2. Get healthy! Not because you need to be slim but because good diet and nutrition keeps you BALANCED and SANE. Exercise regulates your mood.

  3. I love to refocus. Where are you going?  What are you doing? Is this the right way?

  4. Acupuncture is wonderful and very calming, try it.

  5. Maca powder on your cereal will help balance your mood, try that too.

  6. Take the highs with the lows, I read something wonderful from my yoga teacher the other day… I’ll copy it here:

Be like a sky or space – infinite. Sky allows all sorts of weather conditions to pass by, whether that is a rough storm or sunshine, and space holds everything.

Instead of reacting when a family member says something snappy at the Christmas table or swearing when your flight is delayed couple of hours due to the power cut at the airport… hold all of it – the negative emotions and the positive too. There is nothing wrong in feeling grief or sadness, feeling homesick or the opposite being excited by the rush of a festive craze. They key is to hold all of it like a sky – allowing those white clouds as well as the blue clouds to pass by. When we hold all of it as space does rather than pushing away or suppressing those feelings, we begin to see the pattern of our thoughts, emotions and feelings – that they all change. Constantly.  In this space where we allow the anger and the happiness to co-exist, the self – realization is born.

I think I will leave this post here.

It’s January, don’t punish yourself. Let the cycles move up and down, but it they do start to overwhelm you: yoga, healthy food, no caffeine, no alcohol, make plans to see friends, work hard, stay warm and be grateful what you have… you won’t have it forever.  We are in FLUX, ALL the time… just keep smiling and if you can keep LAUGHING!

Big love,
Frank xx
