Pluto, Scorpio and Disney
Pluto the planet of transformation, depth, secrecy, hidden meaning and unexpected revelation rules Scorpio (along with Mars.) It also rules dogs.
An extract from Wikipedia:
"Pluto first appeared as a nameless bloodhound tracking the escaped convict Mickey in the film The Chain Gang (September 1930).[fusion_builder_container hundred_percent="yes" overflow="visible"][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type="1_1" background_position="left top" background_color="" border_size="" border_color="" border_style="solid" spacing="yes" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" padding="" margin_top="0px" margin_bottom="0px" class="" id="" animation_type="" animation_speed="0.3" animation_direction="left" hide_on_mobile="no" center_content="no" min_height="none"][12] A month and a half later, Pluto appeared as Minnie Mouse's dog named Rover who comes along with her and Mickey on a picnic. By his third appearance, in The Moose Hunt (1931), Pluto is Mickey's pet, now named "Pluto".[3]
Several months had passed between the naming of what was believed to have been the ninth planet, Pluto, on March 24, 1930, and the attachment of that name to the dog character. Venetia Burney (later Venetia Phair), who as an eleven-year-old British schoolgirl had suggested the name Pluto for the planet, remarked in 2006: "The name had nothing to do with the Disney cartoon. Mickey Mouse's dog was named after the planet, not the other way around."[13] Although it has been claimed that Disney named the dog after the planet, rather than after the mythical god of the underworld, this has not been verified. Disney animator Ben Sharpsteen said "We thought the name [Rover] was too common, so we had to look for something else. ... We changed it to Pluto the Pup ... but I don't honestly remember why."[14] Disney says they have no documents to support or refute the connection.[15] Unofficially, even Disney's animators believed that Walt Disney chose the name to capitalize on the sensation of the newly named planet."
I read this a few months ago, I have Pluto in the 6th. The 6th house rules all things 'Virgo' and that includes pets and work... therefore there is a suggested association with dogs and work in my chart (I sell pet insurance). I am also a Sagittarius which makes another suggestion of animal loving. In keeping with the Disney theme, I was born 82 years and 364 days after Walt Disney. Who cares?! WELL... Uranus takes 84 years to travel around the sun so my date of birth 6.12.84 and Walt's date of birth 5.12.01 mean we are both SUN CONJUNCT URANUS personalities in SAGITTARIUS.
This means that from our perspective on earth the Sun and Uranus were aligned, in a straight line, they were together. Their energies merge and the person's ego and destiny has a strong Uranian energy...Uranus rules Aquarius so basically the person becomes a mix of their Sun sign and Aquarius. For myself and Walt that's a Sagittarius / Aquarius mix.
Natal Uranus in Sagittarius
With your natal Uranus in Sagittarius, you’re an intuitive person and drawn to alternative beliefs. You want to help people, but you may not be reliable. You can be brutally honest at times, and don’t care if it gets you in trouble. You want to push through boundaries, are unconventional, and independent.
This is intensified in my chart, the OUTER planet tends to overpower the planet it is in aspect with. Uranus is further out than the Sun (obviously) so... my ego is very much in sync with what is written there. I am an astrologer, I want to help people but not everyone wants to hear it, lots of people think it's too unconventional and sometimes I go AWOL for a while when I get distracted with new ideas!
So back to the dogs...
PLUTO the dark planet, God of the Underworld, ruler of Scorpio. I heard it mentioned in December that Pluto rules dogs and I thought, "ha, cool!" Yesterday, I was watching the dog in the garden and thinking about it. What other Pluto qualities does the dog have?
Pluto
Loyal
Intuitive
Psychic - there are so many stories about dogs knowing things, sensing things, protecting their owners from bad people. They 'feel' and 'sense' things with their instincts and loyally protect their owners.
Detectives - they sniff and investigate their surroundings immediately, they look around and make conclusions.
Digging up, unearthing things.
Guide dogs, service dogs transform the lives of their owners.
Dog waste is always an issue.
Dogs do like to destroy things for the sake of it. You liked your shoes? Oh... sorry about that!
Pluto talks of power struggles and there can be a power struggle between the pet and the owner. SIT, SIT, STAY... some people manage to take the power, others don't.
Pluto talks of healing, people always say that a dog licking your wound is a good thing, it's very healing. Dog's can be used to detect cancer and have saved many of their owners with amazing stories of 'knowing' where problems lie.
A long shot? Maybe... Could I sit and talk about how dogs are mercurial? Communication, short journeys, lots of people, maybe... but not really. They don't communicate verbally. Jupiter ruled? Optimistic, over the top, long journeys, independent... not really.
Dogs are endlessly loyal, they transform the lives of their owners, they are intuitive, they can be magnetic, they can be violent and aggressive. They have a strong Scorpio / Pluto vibe and it goes without saying that they are fond of reproduction. Shocking scenes of dogs mounting other dogs and people are not uncommon! Rabbits (living in underground burrows) may have the number one spot in the lusty reputation chart and may also be Pluto ruled... but dogs are surely up there as one of the randiest animals! There has been some obsessive breeding of dogs but we also create and transform new breeds all the time too.
So, I think I am in agreement that Pluto somehow rules dogs and isn't it ironic that Mr forward thinking Disney had Mikey's pet dog named after the planet.
That's all folks,
Frank
