Full Moon in Libra

“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Whoever said this didn’t have the Sun conjunct Uranus…” was  a conversation I had with myself yesterday! (I still can’t believe that some people don’t have a continuous thread of conversation running through their head…. see this article!)

Google reminded me that it was Oscar Wilde who said this and quite aptly, Google tells me that he was a Libra.

I read something that referenced something I had posted on instagram stories (without crediting me.)  This, obviously, irritated me a little bit!

I’ve always loathed being copied.  Why? It must be some shadowy reaction; but also, something to do with my Aquarian spirit!  The need to be unique, authentic, MYself.   However, I have Venus strong and a 7th house Sun so there is an “I’ll be anything you want me to be” streak running through me.

People have copied concepts, titles, words, ideas and in my youth all manner of things to do with MY IDENTITY and what I hypothesised yesterday is that anyone I know who has a habit of nicking other people’s ideas has planets in Libra.

The Sun is exalted in Aries where it is now, because Aries is the independent spirit doing their thing, the Sun is in its sign of fall in Libra where the ego is defined through another.  The  Libra lens goes through you and back to them.  This is why Libra is often dubbed as indecisive and also this is why they are so lovely and charming.  They need you to like them, relationships matter, other people matter, harmony and balance is everything to the Libra.

Life is a balancing act and relationships that always take work have suddenly been squashed into a new shape, a new atmosphere.  Recalibration is essential.

How can we find balance in this new dynamic?

Imagine an old fashioned set of scales, you’re measuring out some flour (for your banana bread!) and now the recipe has changed.  You used to need 50g - now you need 200g (I’ve no idea) and so you get shake happy with the flour bag chucking it onto the scale. CLUNK, too heavy, off balance.  Remove some flour. CLUNK, too light.

The act of rebalancing is not gentle, it throws us from one side of the room to the other.

I’ve just had a google (again.)  I should call it “research” and found this article, very interesting!

“When a friend does it, it can feel more like a betrayal than a compliment, because friends are supposed to admire each other, yet simultaneously maintain their own sense of self and identity. Copycats cross those lines and boundaries, which make the friends they are copying often feel intruded upon and uncomfortable.”

This reminds me of a poem I first heard at a wedding:

Then Almitra spoke again and said, And

what of Marriage, master?

     And he answered saying:

You were born together, and together you

shall be forevermore.

You shall be together when the white

wings of death scatter your days.

Ay, you shall be together even in the

silent memory of God.

But let there be spaces in your togetherness,

And let the winds of the heavens dance

between you.

Love one another, but make not a bond

of love:

Let it rather be a moving sea between

the shores of your souls.

Fill each other’s cup but drink not from

one cup.

Give one another of your bread but eat

not from the same loaf.

Sing and dance together and be joyous,

but let each one of you be alone,

Even as the strings of a lute are alone

though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each

other’s keeping.

For only the hand of life can contain

your hearts.

And stand together yet not too near

together:

For the pillars of the temple stand apart,

And the oak tree and the cypress grow

not in each other’s shadow.

A good choice for a bride with the Moon in Aries!  Togetherness but as individuals with healthy boundaries.

There is a kindness to boundaries and separateness. You can’t lean on someone who is trying to merge with you.

I think that it is what is so disappointing and infuriating about people copying you.  From my perspective  (remember we all have a unique perspective, a unique birth chart) it feels like sneaky weakness.  What is it that makes someone think, yeah great idea, I’m going to do that.  Instead of saying “credit to you, that’s great.”

The reason this happens could be something to do with the shadowy side of Aries.

TO EXPLAIN:

In the zodiac there are 12 signs, which come as 6 pairs.

  • Aries - Libra

  • Taurus - Scorpio

  • Gemini - Sagittarius

  • Cancer - Capricorn

  • Leo - Aquarius

  • Pisces - Virgo

Each pair works in tandem.  If the Sun is in any of those signs then its “shadow” literally, falls into the sign opposite. Sun behind me, shadow in front of me.  It’s the way it works.

When we speak of the “psychological shadow” we are talking about the bits of our consciousness we aren’t fully aware of but are subconsciously driving our decisions.  The unconscious, shadow bits of that feel jealousy (for instance) but instead of recognising our emotion as jealousy, we project that feeling out on to another and find a reason not to like that person.  Jealousy is a fascinating topic because it is an emotion that comes in many disguises very RARELY announcing itself as jealousy.  It arrives in the form of irritation, anger, judgment, ridicule or many other feelings.

When the SUN is in Libra the gifts of the sign are charm, tact, grace, relationships, beauty, harmony, balance, diplomacy etc… and the shadow is in Aries.

So what are the worst bits of Aries?  Selfishness, extreme competitiveness, a need to win at all costs and the shadow of Libra is to use too much tact, flattery and charm to be the “fairest of them all.”

The copycats are competitive, take something of yours to show it off.  There is always the Aries fire in the background, wanting to win.  It’s complicated because it comes from a place of insecurity and low-self esteem but everything in life has its polarity.  Nothing is ever simple or linear!  The article I linked above say that copycat behaviour is a symptom of someone who has low self-esteem and values others over themselves.  Libra is all about COMPARISON and comparison is the thief of joy.  What we need to do at this Full Moon is remember to stay hooked into the moment, to stop comparing (to others, to this time last year, to the people we love) and sink deep into our relationship with ourselves.

There is all sorts of astrological interpretation open to the Full Moon in Libra.  With Venus now in Gemini and Mars (Ruler of Aries) in Aquarius… there is a conversation between Mars and Venus.  However, Mars is trapped in a square with Uranus and wants to GET OUT OF HERE!

A great time to do some online dating

The dating apps might be doing quite well as people seek to connect.  The Aquarius energy rules the internet, this is a meeting of the minds as both Mars and Venus are in mental air signs.

Love

What can we say of Libra? Our relationships?  Balance, harmony, equality. The love of togetherness.  The need for things to LOOK nice more than be nice.  To seem like you’ve got it together more than actually have it together.  Appearances?  Approval of others?  To be like others?  To fit in and match with others?

We all have this somewhere in our charts!  The circle of the zodiac was there when you were born and this Full Moon will be lighting up some area of your chart.  You need to know which house will be lit up by 18 degrees of Libra. I will talk about this more in the event tomorrow evening.

All Full Moons are about this polarity of opposites, Sun opposite Moon, man opposite woman, you opposite me, Aries opposite Libra.  When the full moon is in Libra or Aries this theme is amplified and when we are all living in isolation, this theme is amplified X 10000.  Big Brother contestants have always told us “it’s so intense in there!” and it is!!

But, the opportunities, despite the fact that we don’t have to wear make up, commute, be so bloody busy (which is amazing, it really is, I thought I was going to crack up over the past few years.)  There are also more challenging opportunities 1. for people living in airless flats that’s a challenge on a new, intense scale but there are still blessings to be located. 2. to confront relationships which means confronting the self.  All relationships are reflections (just ask the moon who is in full reflective mode at the moment!)

This is a Super Moon, extra big, extra bright, extra intense.  The reflection of yourself that you see in the people you’re shacked up with is clearer than ever.  What will you do with these revelations?

Writing about them us a good start, as is breathing through them!

Join us tomorrow for a Full Moon in Libra online session with some mediation and magic to surf these strong lunar vibes.

Book here and I’m EXTRA interested for your feedback on this thread!  It’s a Libra moon (i.e. I'm tuning into the other) and this is the first time I’ve explored this topic so there is lots to flesh out.

Big love,
